Dear Professor:
My name is Kazi Ahmed and I am 19 years old, currently in my second semester of freshman year. I’m from Queens and I’ll be commuting to City College from home when school starts in person ( hopefully next semester). My intended major is computer science; coding and programming is something that has always interested me which is why I chose this field to major in. Having a college degree in life is very important but isn’t a necessity, that’s what I believe, but in life you have to do something you don’t like to be able to do something you love eventually. Focusing on self-development is more important to prosper in life and to work on skills and ideas that you believe you can strive in. I have been listening to books for creating a strong and consistent mind recently and they are really great.
Here are some of my favorite books: Rich Dad Poor Dad, Think and Grow Rich, Intelligent Investor. Eventually, my career goal is to open up a real estate firm and help as many people as I can through the firm, whether it be finding someone a nice home or employing people as agents. I have been involved in investing and trading both in the stock market and forex but I don’t do it to get rich quickly, my goal is to compound my portfolio with time and use that to start a firm with a few close friends. And recently I have been working on helping people better their credit score which can save them a good amount of money in the long term with financing a car/house, etc., or even taking out loans. Also, I am very much of a sports guy and I used to play soccer and few other sports as well until recently when I had to go through a major surgery which put me into a setback from the athletic lifestyle.
The field of engineering has been and will be advancing more and more as time goes. Almost everything is now being managed by AI systems, from cars to labor to ordering foods, etc. Softwares can do the work of thousands of brainpower in a matter of time and although this is all very exciting and innovative, it is also scary at the same time. Because of AI taking over a lot of people are losing jobs such as truck drivers due to new Tesla trucks and mailmen due to the new amazon feature etc. Everything has both downsides and upsides to it, it’s just a matter of time till we find out what this new AI era turns out to be.
Sincerely,
Kazi Ahmed
