Self-Reflection

Writing the introduction letter was a bit anxious, such that I feel anxious when it comes to introducing me to others. But as I was writing it I felt that I was able to enhance my writing style better than how it was before. Through the process of writing the introduction letter, I was able to enhance strategies for reading, drafting, revising, editing, and self-assessment which helped me improve my letter. It also made me negotiate my own writing goals and audience expectations regarding the conventions of the introduction letter. It made me acknowledge my and others’ range of linguistic differences as resources, and draw on those resources to develop rhetorical sensibility. And also develop and engage in the collaborative and social aspects of writing processes

The assignment of writing the memo was another step towards achieving some learning outcomes of this course. I have never really written a memo before so this was a new experience. At the beginning of this memo one of the learning outcomes I executed was the practice of using various library resources, online databases, and the Internet to locate sources appropriate to your writing projects, in specific, I did not really use various library resources but I used the other two methods to solidify my information about total students and campus area. Also, I formulated and articulated a stance through and in my writing. The use of previous learning outcomes in the first paragraph was also applied in the process of writing the memo.

This assignment has helped me achieve many of the learning outcomes that are presented in this course. We had a total of seven assignments in this class and I feel like I was able to do good in all of them except for one. My favorite assignment out of the seven was the technical description because it was an exciting project to do on describing something technical and also it was kind of the first step towards the engineering field. My least favorite was the rhetorical analysis because I had never done it before this detailed. It was a bit complicated and confusing to comprehend and it required more of my attention in certain areas of the paper. Which is one of the things I realize I do well after this class, reflect back, and revise properly. Compared to my writing before this class, my writing has improved because of the fact that I pay attention to making the paper be easier to understand for the audience. I pay more attention to perfecting the writing now because I want the readers to know that I understood the assignment and that I came in prepared to get the work done. One thing I still need improvement on is more information that helps me understand the assignment better.
